Archbishop of Dubuque Thomas Zinkula has released a statement regarding the sexual abuse allegations against former Dubuque priest Leo Riley.
Investigators say Riley sexually assaulted four altar boys while working as an associate pastor at Resurrection Parish in Dubuque in the 1980s. Earlier this week, Riley was charged with five counts of sex abuse in Dubuque.
As part of his statement, Zinkula said many people are understandably disheartened and hurt in reaction to this news and that he wanted to address these emotions and express his own, while also providing clarity about their efforts to seek justice concerning the allegations.
