Dubuque Police say an 18-year-old from Dubuque has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old JaKory McMillian on Monday night. The incident happened in an alley between West Locust and Almond Streets.
Police say Latrell Powell-Moore was arrested Thursday night in Marion and is now being held in the Dubuque County Jail on $2-million dollars bond.
Police say their investigation shows following a fight between the two, Powell-Moore is accused of pulling out a gun and chasing McMillian, striking him from behind with the handgun and knocking him to the ground. Police say Powell-Moore then shot McMillian in the head at close range. McMillian was taken to Unity Point Finley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
