Dubuque County American Legion Claims State Title
The Dubuque County Minutemen won the American Legion state championship on Saturday.
Dubuque County routed Moville, 11-0 and 14-4, in a pair of five-inning games to sweep the best-of-3 Iowa championship series.
The Minutemen advance to the regional in August.
COLLEGE
Baseball
- Dubuque lost to Wartburg 10-1 to finish the Spartans season.
- Loras College will be the number six seed in the American Rivers Conference baseball tournament, which begins Thursday and runs through Saturday in Cedar Rapids. The Duhawks will meet #3 seed Simpson at 11 o’clock.
- Clarke finished their season over the weekend in the Heart of America Conference Tournament winning 8-7 over Central Methodist before losing to Mount Mercy 9-5. The Pride finished with a 26-23 record.
- NICC finished their first season yesterday with a15-10 loss at Iowa Lakes Community College. The Cougars finished with a record of 7 and 40.
Regional
- Iowa lost in their senior day match-up to Illinois 6-2. The Hawkeyes return to action for their final home game on Tuesday against St. Thomas
Softball
Regional
- The University of Iowa softball team fell to Purdue, 7-5, on Sunday afternoon in the regular season finale. Iowa finished with a record of 27-27.
- Iowa State lost to UCF 12-4 and finished with a 32-23 record.
- The Wisconsin softball team earned the No. 7 seed to the 2026 Big Ten Tournament and will take on the No. 10 seed Purdue Boilermakers. The Badgers First Round will be played Wednesday, May 6 at 4:30 pm ET at the Maryland Softball Stadium in College Park, Maryland.
