Italian Grinder Sandwiches
8 Hoagie rolls
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. Hot or Mild Italian Sausage
16 oz. pizza sauce
2 tbsp. onion powder
2 tbsp. chopped basil or 1 tbsp. basil paste
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
8 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
Aluminum foil
Brown meats together in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain grease. Add onion powder, basil, oregano, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to meat and stir well. Stir in pizza sauce. Simmer meat mixture over low heat 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Preheat oven to 375-degrees F. Split the hoagie roll open. Layer each roll with some of the meat mixture and top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Wrap each sandwich individually in foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove and let rest 5 minutes. Serve.
