Recovery efforts continued over the weekend in the northwest Illinois community of Lena which was pummeled by what National Weather Service surveyors confirmed was a high end EF-2 tornado on Friday afternoon.
The storm leveled homes, uprooted trees, downed power lines and left debris scattered everywhere. Law enforcement says fortunately there were no deaths or serious injuries.
The storms also dropped up to golf ball sized hail and did significant wind damage throughout the other areas of the tristate.
