A judge has sentenced a southwest Wisconsin man for the October 2024 death of a Prairie du Chien man.
40-year old Jessie Slaughter of Lancaster was sentenced yesterday in Grant County Circuit court to 25 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision for strangling and killing Daniel Welch who was found dead inside his Prairie du Chien apartment. Slaughter was arrested the next day at a Platteville residence.
In March, Slaughter pled no contest to the charges.
