Jackson County Disaster Mitigation Plan

NEWS IOWA

The Jackson County Emergency Management Office is asking for public input as they prepare to update the county’s multi-jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan. Right now Jackson County residents can fill out an online survey to help county officials update their plan.

The plan which is mandated by federal officials assesses the natural hazards posing a risk to the county, such as tornadoes, wind storms, ice storms and flooding and identifies ways to minimize the damage of future events.  The plan must be updated every five years to maintain eligibility for Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants from FEMA.

Go to Jackson County’s website to access the survey.
