A woman was seriously injured in Dubuque when she reportedly fell off the tailgate of a pickup truck and struck her head on the pavement.
Dubuque Police say the incident happened between 5:30 and 6 on Saturday evening in the 800 block of Kirkwood Street. Police say 23-year old Emily Koziol of Darien, Illinois was taken first to Finley Hospital and then was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Police said Koziol was riding on the tailgate of the vehicle driven by 23-year old Mason Jackson of Bellevue and fell off when Jackson was turning into a parking lot.
Jackson told police he was leaving a house party on Alta Vista Street at the time of the incident. Police say Jackson was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.
