The Grant County Sheriff says two people died in vehicle crashes over the weekend.
The first death happened on Saturday afternoon around 3:30 near Potosi on Brouillard Hill Rd west of Old Potosi Rd. An investigation shows a motorcycle operated by 63-year old Timothy Ravn of Saint Paul, Minnesota skidded out of control after the rear tire on the cycle locked up. A U-W Med flight arrived but Ravn died before he could be taken to the hospital.
The second death happened near Lancaster early Sunday morning on County Highway ‘A’ near Buckwheat Ridge Road in Ellenboro Township. The Sheriff says a pickup driven by 17-year old Christopher Brandemuehl of rural Lancaster left the road, struck an embankment and rolled several times. Brandenmuehl and a passenger 26-year old Katy Schafer of Montfort were thrown out of the pick-up. Schafer died from her injuries while Brandemuehl was airlifted to U-W Hospital in Madison with critical injuries.
Grant County authorities say the two deaths were the third and fourth traffic fatalities in the county so far this year.
