Messerich Tapped To Be Next Dubuque Police Chief
Assistant Dubuque Police Chief Joe Messerich will become the next Police Chief pending approval by the Dubuque City Council at their meeting Monday evening.
Messerich was one of two internal candidates being looked at to replace retiring Chief Jeremey Jensen. City Manager Mike Van Milligen announced the recommendation yesterday.
Messerich has over 24 years of law enforcement experience. He joined the Dubuque Police Department as an officer in the patrol division in 2001, becoming assistant chief of police in 2022.
Chief Jensen is retiring August 3rd after serving the police department for over 34 years, including being chief since March 2022.
