120-Day Data Center Moratorium To Be Considered By Dubuque County Supervisors

DUBUQUE COUNTY

A special Dubuque County Board of Supervisors meeting is set to consider approving a temporary moratorium on data centers.

The board will consider a resolution imposing a 120 day moratorium on the “acceptance, processing, and approval of any zoning amendments, site plans, building permits, or conditional use permits related to the construction or expansion of data centers.”

During the moratorium, county staff will research and draft zoning regulations regarding data centers. The meeting will be Tuesday at 3:30pm at the Dubuque County Courthouse and comes on the heels of the Dubuque County Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommending the board of supervisors put a halt on future data center plans until it can get more information.

County officials say the county has not received an application for a data center.
