A fire at Ditmer Recycling on Radford Road in Dubuque presented a challenge for Dubuque Firefighters.
Around 3:15 yesterday afternoon fire Crews were called there after a report of smoke coming from a large and very deep pile of recycling material inside a building. Firefighters had to deal with heavy light colored smoke and zero visibility at times. A loader operated by facility personnel was used to remove portions of the material to aid firefighting efforts where water was being sprayed and it was eventually extinguished.
Damage was contained to the recycling materials and didn’t spread to the building. There were no injuries. A cause hasn’t been determined. Dubuque firemen were assisted by the Farley Fire Department.
