HIGH SCHOOL

Track and Field

It was a busy night in high school girls and boy track and field across the state of Iowa Thursday night with State Qualifying Meets taking place. The top two place finishers in each event automatically qualified for the state meet. 12 at-large performances from around the state will also join the field in each event.

The entire list of state qualifiers for the State Meet next Thursday thru Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines will be finalized later today

AM 1370 KDTH will be broadcasting reports on area qualifying athletes with 6 reports each day of the state meet.

Girls Golf

  • At the 9 team Senior Ram Invitational, Pleasant Valley won the title shooting a team total 300, seven strokes in front of Wahlert. Senior finished 4th shooting 334. Hempstead came in 6th with 404.

 

COLLEGE

Men’s Golf

  • The University of Dubuque men’s golf team shot a 295 (+7) on day three of the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships at the El Campeon course, sitting in 12th place. John Dobbe moved up one spot on the individual leaderboard to sit tied for seventh place at four under par through 54 holes. Illinois Wesleyan at 5 under leads Dubuque by 25 strokes.

 

Softball

In the NCAA Regional in Angola, Indiana: the Loras College softball team got their first NCAA Tournament win with a 14-6 victory over the No. 24-ranked University of Rochester (NY). Loras returns to action this morning to take on the host 4th ranked Trine University.
