Boil Order In Worthington

NEWS SM

The community of Worthington is recommending residents boil water before use after the distribution system had a loss in pressure yesterday.

City leaders said the boil recommendation is due to the potential for bacterial contamination. The advisory will remain in place until the system is repaired, repressurized, and bacteria samples can be collected.

Under the advisory, Worthington residents are asked to bring all water intended for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth or for use in food preparation, to a boil for one minute, and then let it cool before use. People can also use bottled water instead.

City staff will also flush city fire hydrants today and that may cause discolored water or reduced water pressure. It’s suggested to run water for a few minutes until it runs clear.
